First Ocean Literacy Festival – Celebrating the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea

Supported by the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission, the EU4Ocean Atlantic & North Sea basin community is organising the first Ocean Literacy Festival, which will showcase initiatives and activities from all European countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea.

The Festival will take place on May 22nd, 2021, back-to-back with the annual European Maritime Day conference, organised this year in Den Helder (Netherlands).

The IOLN hope to showcase Irish Ocean Literacy Projects involving members on the day. Content will be made available throughout the day on IOLN social media pages, and content will be uploaded to IOLN website. Schools and the Public Groups will be encouraged to action for the ocean including local clean ups, displaying art and a new song about the sea called ‘Ocean Love’ will be shared.

The closing date for submissions is the 25th of April and you can register your event here as an individual or as a member of the IOLN.

Members can contact Noirin or Garry at irishoceanliteracynetwork@gmail.com or on social media if they need more information about getting involved in any of the events listed above. #WeAreIslanders
